Tracfone Straight Talk – New Prepaid Phone Offers

By Chris M Mccarthy

The newest offerings from TracFone come in the form of an unlimited prepaid plan and a much cheaper 1,000 minutes a month plan. Both are very good deals, and they both go under the name of Straight Talk. TracFone has put its money where it’s mouth is and has created two very attractive and cheap prepaid cell phone plans.

Over the course of its tenure, TracFone has proven itself to be a value provider in the prepaid phone business. The company has catered to frugal people who watch over their bills like hawks and has created wireless plans that allow them to save a lot of money every single month.

With the birth of Straight Talk by TracFone, the company is reaching out even further to the mainstream public. In fact, many people who may never have considered prepaid phone plans in the past are switching over to Straight Talk because it’s such a good deal.

Not only do the plans provide ample minutes of talk time, they also run on the Verizon wireless network, which means they have a very solid network on which to place calls. It’s a very cool thing that people can get very good prices on a stellar network and a very good plan with great options.

The Unlimited Straight Talk prepaid plan is great for the more social person who basically lives on his or her cell phone. With limitless use of the phone every month, people who purchase this plan can talk with not worries of going over the allotted minutes. They can’t go over their allotted minutes because they have no allotted minutes. They also can’t send too many text messages because there are no restrictions on text messages. Web browsing is also unlimited, which is a huge thing these days, as there is more and more functionality available online.

The even cheaper Straight Talk TracFone plan costs subscribers $30 per month and gives users access to 1,000 minutes of talk time and text messages. It is a great plan for those who may not need all of the flexibility of an unlimited plan. 1,000 minutes is a ton of minutes, though, so it will be ample talk time for many people. In fact, the majority of people are probably interested in this plan over its unlimited counterpart, simply because most people do not use over 1,000 minutes over the course of one month.

Truly, there are many good cheap prepaid phone plans out there and it’s a great time to be in the market for one because you can find a very good deal.

Straight Talk Unlimited Prepaid Phone Plan Details

By Chris M Mccarthy

TracFone is one of the best-known prepaid cell phone plan providers in the United States, even though the company is owned by a foreign corporation. TracFone has around 12 million monthly subscribers and is known for being very affordable and for having good service.

The number of people using TracFone’s services is bound to increase with the release of two great prepaid cell phone plans under the name of Straight Talk. TracFone’s Straight Talk brand is made up of two prepaid plans, one unlimited and one that is just a bit more limited. The first plan, which costs $30, delivers the user 1,000 minutes of talk time per month, along with 1,000 text messages, and 30 megabytes of data transfer. This is a great plan for the moderate to heavy cell phone user. 1,000 minutes should suffice for most people. If you extrapolate that number over the whole month of 30 days, you see that you can use 33 minutes per day of talk time and 30 text messages per day.

If you need more that that, you can pay $45 per month for the Straight Talk Unlimited prepaid plan, which gives subscribers everything that the name promises. Subscribers to this plan get limitless use of their phone for talk time and text messaging–all for $45. It is clear that this plan beats out many other plans. But the Tracfone Straight Talk plans are not the only great prepaid plans out there, although they may be hard to beat.

Other prepaid wireless service providers have stepped into the fray and have lowered prices or added services to their plans in efforts to win more business from cost-cutting consumers on the look out for great deals. One of the problems with postpaid contract plans is that users tend to overpay for minutes, meaning they do not use all the minutes available to them. This is a waste of money. Prepaid plans help eliminate this waste of talk time and money.

Cricket, which is part of Leap Wireless, has some good prepaid plans depending on where you are in the country. Boost Mobile has a $50 plan that had skeptics raving earlier this year. They wondered how the company would make ends meet by giving out its plan for such a low price every single month. Boost has won many converts the country over, who all like the options this unlimited prepaid plan gives them.

MetroPCS and Page Plus Cellular, a company out of Holland, both have prepaid plans that, depending on what you are looking for, may provide for you just what you need out of your wireless plan. Remember that the issue is really finding the right plan that works for you. there is nothing set in stone and no one plan that will save you money right out the gate unless you concentrate on the elements in a cell phone plan that you really need.

A good way to do this is to look at your cell phone bills for the previous several months and see where you are overpaying and where you being overcharged. You will be able to learn more about your mobile usage habits and will be able to save money in the long run.

Read more about how you can save with TracFone Unlimited Prepaid plans. Also, get more information on an attractive competing plan from MetroPCS prepaid.

Straight Talk TracFone Prepaid Plans Released Nationwide

By Chris M Mccarthy

Straight Talk prepaid phones will now be available for purchase nationwide in Wal-Mart stores. The brand of cell phone, which is owned by TracFone and will run on the Verizon wireless network, comes in two plans.

The first plan, which costs $30, includes 1,000 minutes and 1,000 text messages. In addition, it comes with 30 MB of data usage, which is used primarily for web browsing. This should be enough for many cell phone users, and particularly those who tend to use their phone mainly for calling and texting.

If you are in the latter category of person, then this first plan may be sufficient for you. 1,000 minutes is well over what the average cell phone user uses per day, and the allotment of text messages averages out to 33 per day. If you send and receive over 33 text messages per day, then you may want to consider the second plan from Straight Talk prepaid.

The Straight Talk unlimited plan costs $45 and provides unlimited talk time and unlimited text messages. It’s a very affordable plan and should be good for many people who use their cell phones quite frequently. This plan used to come with 30 MB of web browsing, but now has been upgraded to include unlimited data usage, which really just sweetens the deal.

Prepaid phones have really come to prominence in recent months as people have begun to see how affordable an option this kind of mobile plan can be. Many people overpay for their cell phone bills, and pay as you go plans (which is an interchangeable phrase with “prepaid”) are a great way to cut back on expenses.

It would be one thing if prepaid wireless plans were how they used to be, but their has been a definite shift into what you could call the “A-game,” as prepaid providers have really stepped up and are willing to compete for your business. Straight Talk plans are not the only ones out there, however. Boost Mobile has an unlimited plan, as do MetroPCS and Cricket. AT&T even recently sweetened the pot by making its prepaid plan slightly more attractive to a wider audience, modifying its GoPhone plans.

The most important thing you can do while searching for the right plan is to establish exactly what you need out of your phone plan. Figure out how many minutes of talk time you use each month as well as other services, and compare your needs to a given offer. Good luck.

Samsung r810c Finesse Review – Straight Talk

By Patrick Bushman

The Samsung Finesse r810c was released for Straight Talk Wireless in December, 2009, and created a LOT of buzz among prepaid phone users. At first glance, the r810c appears to be everything prepaid users have been dreaming of: it includes a large touch screen, high-speed EVDO data connection, music player, 2.0 mp camera, camcorder, bluetooth, and many other features.

To top it all off, this phone is now available on Straight Talk’s inexpensive, no-contract plans. At $45 per month, the unlimited calling, text, and data plan is pretty appealing, especially when that data is coming over a 3G connection. For people who, like me, are geeky enough to lust after the iPhone but “frugal” enough to stick to prepaid, this might be the perfect solution.

In fact, I couldn’t resist. After reading a few of the initial reviews of the Finesse from other Straight Talk users, I bit the bullet and purchased my own Samsung r810c, along with a month of unlimited service.

I’ve just received the phone, and I’m so enamored with the device I set up a separate Samsung r810c website to publish my review of the phone and share tips and tricks with other Straight Talk users. As I gain more experience with the Finesse, I’ll be putting up a very detailed review of the phone. I’ll also do my best to answer any questions that people might have if I happen to miss important information in my review.

As I said above, I’ve only had the phone a few days, so I haven’t used it enough to really test it out. Here’s what I can tell you so far, though – the voice quality seems adequate, but not fantastic. I would say it’s on par with the Samsung r451c, another Straight Talk phone released earlier this fall, but not quite as good as the LG 290c and 220c, also recent models on Straight Talk.

What is beyond compare, though, is the touch screen and EVDO browser. The touch screen definitely takes some getting used to, but I think I’ll grow to like it. It’s similar to an iPhone or iPod touch as far as how the touch screen works, but just a little different in sensitivity.

One thing worth noting here is that, unlike the aforementioned Apple products, the Finesse lacks “multi-touch” functionality. This means that the screen can sense only one “touch” at time, thus preventing use of Apple’s popular pinch-to-zoom operation. As an iPod touch user, I find that a little disappointing. Beyond that disappointment, though, I like the touch screen. This is the first touch-screen phone I’ve used. It’s nice to use, and even nicer to look at it

One thing that I really like is the EVDO internet access. I’ve had several phones now with internet access, but used them all very little because they were so slow. That is not the case with the r810c’s 3G data. It’s certainly not as fast as broadband internet at your home, but it’s fast enough that I’d be happy to use it to pass time while waiting in a waiting room or as a passenger in a vehicle.

Just as a point of reference, I was able to load the CNN website in about a minute, complete with a dozen pictures. On previous prepaid phones, if it loaded at all it would have taken several minutes to load a site like CNN, and that wouldn’t have included any pictures at all.

To check my email from my Yahoo! email account, it took me about 3 minutes to load the site, enter my password, and download my messages. I then reset the home page to yahoo mail, and saved my login info automatically. Now I can get to my new messages in about 45 seconds.

I have a lot more to discuss with this phone, and I’ll be putting some time into getting it up on my new site at the site listed in the resource box. I hope to see you there.

Straight Talk Vs Boost Mobile Unlimited Prepaid Plans

January 25th, 2010

Straight Talk Vs Boost Mobile Unlimited Prepaid Plans
By Chris M Mccarthy

Prepaid cell phone plans have become quite popular recently, as people have tried to cut back on expenses in more interesting ways. People who are trying to save money on household expenses inevitably turn to their cell phone bill as an area where they can cut some of the excess spending. As a result, people start to look at prepaid as a viable option because it often leads to savings.

Two plans are at the forefront of the prepaid marketplace: Straight Talk by TracFone and Boost Mobile Monthly Unlimited. Both companies have released very affordable Unlimited prepaid plans. Unlimited prepaid plans provide just what the title suggests–limitless talk time and text messages.

Here’s how these two plans stack cup against each other.

The Straight Talk prepaid plan costs $45 for unlimited talk time, text messaging, and 30 MB of data usage. There are a variety of phones available on the plan ranging in price from $30 to $150. Straight Talk runs on the Verizon network, which gives it good coverage.

Boost Mobile Monthly Unlimited costs $50 for all the talk time and text messages the subscriber may want to use. In addition, it includes unlimited wireless web use, nationwide walkie-talkie features between Boost Mobile users, and free mobile-to-mobile.

Straight Talk runs on the Verizon network, which is a big plus since Verizon has one of the strongest networks in America. There is also ample data usage available. The Straight Talk unlimited plan is five dollars cheaper than the Boost Mobile plan, which may factor into your buying decision as well.

The Boost Mobile Monthly prepaid plan may not boast a network like that of Straight Talk, but it has a sufficient one. Consider also that you get limitless wireless web for web surfing, so if you use your cell phone to access the Internet quite frequently, this could be a good thing for you. The walkie-talkie option is another free option that comes with this cheap Boost Mobile plan.

One good way to delineate which prepaid cell phone plan may be the better option is to find which wireless provider gets better service in your immediate area. This is a very important concern because nothing is more annoying than getting spotty service in your area of residence, where you will presumably use your phone the most.

Between the TracFone Straight Talk plan and the Boost Mobile, it really is difficult to choose a winner. They are very similar in price and in what they offer, although both plans have different strengths as noted earlier. Other ways to reach a decision on which plan to choose would be to check out phone selection and also figure out which elements of each phone plan better suit your particular needs.

Find more details about the Straight Talk Unlimited Plan from TracFone here. Also, compare it to the similar but slightly more expensive Boost Mobile monthly unlimited plan.

Straight Talk Wireless vs Tracfone Prepaid

January 12th, 2010

Straight Talk Wireless vs Tracfone Prepaid
These two Prepaid cell companies have significantly different pricing. Tracfone is both a very inexpensive monthly service and an inexpensive pay up front yearly service.

Straight Talk is a Very Low Cost Unlimited service and a very high value $30 a month service . Straight Talk only has two options which you can change between on a monthly basis.

If you are spending $30 a month or more on your cell phone the best deal available is the Straight Talk “All You Need” plan that gives you 1,000 minutes and 1,000 texts, 30 meg of data and unlimited 411 calls.

If you are using more than 1,000 minutes a month the $45 Unlimited plan from Straight Talk is impossible to beat with a National Carrier (Verizon) providing the network.

Motorola Razr V3 and Samsung R451c Qwerty Phone from both Straight Talk.com

Tracfone Plan Advantages

$20 phone card gives you three months of service time. You get 60/120 with double minutes 33.33/16.66 with doubler cents a minute and $6.33 per month.

$80 phone card gives you three months and 450/900 with double minutes 16.66/8.8 with doubler minutes and $26.66 per month.

$100 yearly phone card gives you 400/800 with double minutes and 12 months service $8.33 per month and 25/12.5 with doubler cents a minute.

$200 yearly phone card gives you 1500/3000-dmfl minutes and 12 months service $16.66 per month and 13.33/6.66-dmfl cents a minute.

Minutes and Activation time Roll-over with Tracfone.

Tracfone.com has a DMFL (double minutes for life) option you can purchase for your phone usually $25 or $50. This doubles your minutes on every card you put in your phone for the life of the phone. Many Tracfone Phones come with DMFL already installed on the phone. Never add minutes to a Non-DMFL Tracfone phone. The minutes are way too expensive.

Straight Talk Wireless vs Tracfone Prepaid Advantages
$30 a month plan gives you 1,000 minutes, 1,000 text messages, 30 megabite of data er month. No charge for 411 calls. 3.3 cents a minute not counting the text and data. Minutes do not roll over on this pay as you go system.

$45 Unlimited plan with Unlimited text and Unlimited data. No charge for 411 calls. There is no other Nationwide calling plan that comes close to matching this plan.

Nicer phones are available from Straight Talk than Tracfone. Although many of the same phones are available from both companies. Always figure the cost of adding in DMFL to your Tracfone when you are comparing prices.

All Straight Talk phones use the Verizon Network for making calls.

Summary The Plan I would Buy Depends on My Usage

I would choose the Tracfone.com plan. I do not use a lot of minutes and my favorite plan is the $200 3,000 minute plan from Tracfone. My usage is all over the map, some months I don’t use more than a hundred minutes and some months I will use four or five hundred. I am almost always around a land line to talk on so my cell phone is more for messages. This changes my Straight Talk Wireless vs Tracfone Prepaid strategies.

If I used all of my 3,000 minutes in seven months it would be the same as me buying the $30 Straight Talk cards every month. Seven months at $30 equals $210. If I am able to stretch the 3,000 minute Tracfone plan for more than seven months I am getting cheaper cell phone service.

The magic number is 428 minutes a month. 3,000 minutes/ 7 months= 428 minutes per month. If you average over that you are better off spending the $30 a month for the Straight Talk Plan.

Summary Two of Straight Talk Vs Tracfone

If you are using just a few minutes a month Tracfone is great, you can keep your service active for less than $7 a month. If you use 400 minutes a month you can purchase the $200 1,500 minute card and get 3,000 minutes with DMFL. This will cost you less than $30 a month. If you use over 400 (428) minutes a month purchase the $30 a month 1,000 Straight Talk Plan or $45 a month unlimited plan.

Happy Calling

Get the Straight Talk Unlimited Plan for $45 or the $30 Monthly plan direct from Straight Talk.com

So if you want the cheapest cell phone monthly and you use under 428 minutes a month Tracfone has you covered for less than $30 a month.

LG 200c Prepaid Straight Talk Phone

January 4th, 2010

The New Straight Talk LG 200c Prepaid Wireless Phone is a very Basic Clam shell folding phone.

This is one of the most basic flip phones made. It has a few simple functions like a calculator, alarm clock but it really is just a phone. You can easily text and talk. I do use the clock all the time as my watch. The calculator works well also.

I like this phone

I have been using this same LG 200c model of phone from Net10 for the last two years. I have dropped it hundreds of times, and it still keeps working. It is easy to use, fits well in my pocket and it never messes up. The ringer stays at the level I set it.

Keyboard view of the LG 200c CDMA phone from Straight Talk, Tracfone and Net10

No External Keys

I really like the fact that there are no buttons on the outside of the phone. It never accidentally makes calls in my pocket. It does not have a camera or anything else. I also have a Verizon phone that has external buttons to turn on the camera and to adjust the ringer. I will be sitting down and if I move just wrong it starts taking pictures.

If all you want is a phone

This is the phone for you. From Straight Talk you will pay $30 for the LG 200c and then if you get the unlimited card that will be an extra $45 or if you get the 1000 minute card it will be an extra $30.

Match.com – Everyone knows someone who met on Match.com. Now it’s your turn. Search Now!

Great Little Texting Phone

This is a great little phone to text with. It is light and well balanced to hold in one hand and text with. It is faster to text with one hand than to use the qwerty keyboards. There have been several races held and the fastest messagers are actually using morse code but the second fastest are using the 10 key pad to text. If you learn to use the I-touch or T-9 system you will be able to text pretty fast.

Buy the Straight Talk LG 200c Prepaid Wireless Phone if you are wanting a simple light durable prepaid phone. The Straight Talk payment plan is better than any of the contract or prepaid plans.

I have a review of the Samsung R451c which is a very nice Qwerty keyboard phone for texting. I have used one a bit and the full size thumb keyboard has a good feel to it. Check out my review of the Straight Talk Samsung R451c Slider.

Motorola Droid and Iphone

I have friends with the Droid and the Iphone and Blackberries. They are always running out of battery. Most of them have bought a charger for their car so if they run out of charge they can plug in. Many of these phones will barely make it a day on a charge.

They always seem to be losing them, getting them stolen or breaking them. Most of them are paying $70 to $150 a month on their phones.

Straight Talk LG 200c Battery Life

The Lg 200c has the best battery life of any phone I have had. I easily get a week out of a charge. This will change if you use your phone a lot. I use 150 to 250 minutes a month. The more you use your phone the faster they drain the battery.

If you just want a cell phone to talk and text the LG 200c is a very good choice.

If you want to check your email or search the internet on your phone the Straight Talk LG 200c is not for you. This is a basic phone. Talk and Text, that is pretty much it.

The Best Prepaid or Contract Cell phone deal in the US

I have written a lot about Prepaid and Contract cell phone plans in the US. These two plans are the best value. No limitations if you use more than 200 minutes a month then one of these plans will be the best for you.

Straight Talk Motorola Razr V3 Video Review

January 1st, 2010

This is a video review of Straight Talk Motorola Razr V3 phone.

Straight Talk is a new partnership between Verizon, Tracfone and Walmart. The phones range from a basic phone for $60 with a $30 phone card to a pretty nice Smart phone that runs just over $300. I recently bought the Samsung R451c for $130 which included a $30″All You Need” phone card.

This setup was good for one month of service, 1000 minutes, 1000 texts, and 30 mb of web browsing.  That is quite a bit of browsing on the little screen of this phone.

Summary Straight Talk Review

This is a well thought out partnership between the largest retailer in the world, the largest cell phone company in the new World—(Tracfone’s parent company)– and Verizon who has the largest network of Cell phone towers in the United States.

This program hits a new low price for unlimited Nationwide coverage $45 per month plus sales tax.  It also hist a new low for prepaid minutes at 3 cents a minute.   The minutes do not roll over.  Still the cheapest prepaid minute you could find before this program was 6.66 with a $200 purchase from Tracfone.
